.  ACCES/STAY: ENTRY AND RESIDENCE PERMIT

 

ENTRANCE IN SPAIN

 
European Union citizens are allowed to enter into Spain with the valid passport and/or the identity card.


Citizens from non European Union (EU) countries are required to check the procedures and necessary documents at the diplomatic representation in their country of origin. The information is also available in the web site of Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores

RESIDENCE PERMIT

 
Students from EU countries: only the passport and/or the identity card are needed. Anyway, if the student wants to legally work here and/or if his/her stay is longer than three months he/she will have to personally go to the police station located in Jaume II, 11-15 in order to register in the Registro Central de Extranjeros. (from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 14.00). WITHOUT ARRANGED MEETING. Needed documents:
  • Original and copy of the passport
  • Official certificate issued by the city's town hall stating that you are legally living in Lleida (certificado de empadronamiento). In order to register you must go to Oficina de Atención al Ciudadano, located in the town hall of Lleida, and bring:
    • Original and copy of your passport
    • Original and copy of the lease contract
    • If the flat is not rented, the authorization of inhabitation and a copy of the identification card (ID) of the flat's owner.
  • Original and copy of EX16 form.
Students from Non- EU countries:
  • Students staying in Spain LESS than SIX months. If you already have a student visa, YOU DO NOT NEED TO FULFILL ANY OTHER REQUIREMENT.
  • Students staying in Spain MORE than SIX months: during the first month after their arrival they have to personally ask for Student's Card.
    • In order to obtain this Student's Card they have to go to the police station located in Jaume II, 11-15, Lleida (from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 14.00). WITHOUT ARRANGED MEETING
    • Needed documents:
      • Copy and original passport in force
      • Official certificate issued by the city's town hall stating that you are legally living in Lleida (certificado de empadronamiento). In order to register you must go to Oficina de Atención al Ciudadano, located in the town hall of Lleida, and bring:
        • Original and copy of your passport
        • Original and copy of the lease contract
        • If the flat is not rented, the authorization of inhabitation and a copy of the identification card (ID) of the flat's owner.
    • EX 17 form. You can downloaded here.
    • At the police station they will provide the student with a taxes payment form (15 EUR). The student will have to go to a bank office and pay for the taxes. Afterwards, the student will have to go back to the police station with all the required documents.
    • At the Police Station they will issue a voucher that must be returned within 40 days, and then the student will receive the NIE.
  • You must personally renew your NIE 60 days prior to its expiration (your first NIE is granted for a year) by going to the police station located in Jaume II, 11-15, Lleida (from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 14.00). WITHOUT ARRANGED MEETING. Required documents are:
    • Application (PDF format)
    • Copy and original passport in force
    • Certificate stating you have passed the exams or carried satisfactory out the research activities in order to follow academic activities in Lleida.
    • Registration form at the University of Lleida
    • Health Insurance wich guarantees you will be covered by medical assistance during your stay in Lleida
    • Document certifying you have enough economic resources to live in Lleida
  • When the student receives Spanish Government's Representative decision about the renewal, student has to personally ask for it by going to the police station located in Jaume II, 11-15, Lleida (from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 14.00). ARRANGED MEETING NEEDED by calling to 973 21 42 97. Required documents are:
    • Authorities notification
    • Voucher of having paid for the administrative fees
    • Two color photos
    • Passport in force
    • Expired card
